The St Michael’s Centre project explores how redevelopment can support the long-term future of a community facility. The original youth centre near Imperial Wharf required significant intervention to remain financially viable, prompting an initial mixed-use proposal combining a new youth centre with residential accommodation above.
Following a change in ownership, Wimshurst Pelleriti acquired the site and developed a revised scheme for nine apartments with a commercial unit at ground floor. The design prioritises retention of as much of the existing building as possible, reducing demolition and the associated carbon impact while creating a viable new use for the site.
