The Liberty Woodland School aims to reinterpret the way the next generation learns and understands the role they need to play in protecting the natural world.

Our brief as architects has been about developing the spaces that exist in between landscape and structures, providing shelter for outdoor learning and bringing nature into the classroom and vice versa, with the aim of kindling a fascination, and a sense of responsibility towards the world that surrounds us. It’s a real privilege to be able to collaborate on a project that holds such genuine importance for all of our futures.

The School sits within the grounds of Morden Lodge, a Grade II Listed Regency Villa in Morden Hall Park. An array of existing structures on the site have been retained and enhanced with lightweight timber elements to create a variety of specialist learning spaces, including an artist’s residence within a 19th-century stable block, an exhibition space and a tool workshop.
