The extension and transformation of a modest two-bedroom bungalow in Surrey, increasing the home from 160sqm to almost 500sqm while retaining the original building.

Rather than demolishing the existing house, the project upgrades and overclads it with insulation and stone, adding a lightweight timber-framed storey that remains only fractionally taller than the original bungalow. A new Scottish larch-clad extension is connected by a glazed stair link beneath a lowered zinc roof, creating a clear distinction between old and new while carefully controlling the overall massing.
