Working with RSH+P, Wimshurst Pelleriti developed a new underground station at Capodichino, transforming the existing airport terminal into a sustainable transport hub connecting Naples airport with the city’s principal rail and ferry connections.
A sweeping canopy of laminated timber ribs and aluminium louvres extends across a new pedestrian piazza, providing shade while establishing a strong civic identity. The structure continues into the station below, drawing passengers towards the underground platforms. At the centre, an elliptical well brings natural light deep into the station and creates a dramatic vertical connection between the piazza and the trains.
