Rowe Court - Site Update

Our project at 62-84 Rowe Court, Reading with Buxton Building Contractors is nearing completion and should be completed in July this year. This project replaces an existing 1980s building which was irreparably damaged in 2021 during a catastrophic fire caused by arson and which tragically lead to loss of life. The project reinstates the property comprising 24no. units (16 x studio and 8 x one-bedroom apartments) adhering to the existing legal leasehold titles and unit mix, in line with terms of a reinstatement insurance policy.

The new replacement building had to adhere to current planning & building regulations, national space standards as well as incorporate a non-combustible facade (EWS-1 Form). This resulted in a necessary increase in the building footprint which has be sensitively considered to mitigate any potential impact on the vicinity and has been designed to be less tall that the demolished building. The resultant development delivers a modern building that responds to local architectural style and character.

Wimshurst Pelleriti secured planning consent for this scheme and were subsequently novated to Buxton Building Contractors to develop RIBA Stage 4 and oversee Stage 5 on site, including the new Principle Designer (BSA) role.
