The tight and awkward site of the former Mereway Day Centre, the site posed multiple challenges with the close proximity of the River Crane and the nature reserve to the north.

The proposals will provide seven four bed and three bed two storey family homes. The homes are arranged in a mews fashion, maximising the potential of the tapered, single entrance site, with gardens to the front and rear.

The homes are designed to target carbon net zero with ‘Passivhaus’ design features, like a highly insulated external envelope, incorporate heat pump technology, mechanical ventilation heat recovery systems and photovoltaics to provide truly modern sustainable homes that are a cheap to run and a pleasure to live in.

The housing has been developed in a sensitive and respectful way that minimises the impact on the River Crane, the Metropolitan Open Land to the north and the neighbouring houses, to create new sustainable homes and landscape habitats on a disused urban brownfield site.
